About Weightstone WE White No.4
Weightstone stands out as one of Taiwan's most diverse wineries, known for its high-quality, award-winning wines. Production has now expanded to approximately 10,000 bottles across seven wines, crafted from grapes sourced from four vineyards. Despite this success, winemaking remains a niche industry in Taiwan, where less than 100 hectares of land are under vine.
Grape Varieties & Region: A blend of Golden Muscat, Musann Blanc, and Mehone from Taichung, Taiwan. The region has a subtropical climate, at an altitude of 480 metres, and was once the shoreline of an ancient lake, located in Puli in the south-east of Taichung. Stone fishing weights, carved by aboriginal fishermen, were still found there – hence the late Founder, Ben Yang, named the winery Weightstone.
Taste Profile: Pale yellow. It has aromas of tropical fruits, grapefruit, white grapefruit, lemon, white pepper, and minerals. On the palate, it is refreshing with crisp acidity, savoury notes and rounded textures, layering the complex flavours through to a rhythmic finish.
Winemaking Process: All grapes are combined with wild yeast and fermented in low-temperature stainless steel vessels. The wine lees are cultured for six months. Production is limited to 3,000 bottles.
